Remembering

I was just remembering my dog, Shelby. She was the best dog/companion ever! She brought laughter into our home! Yes, she was the best escape artist! When Patrick (or anyone else, for that matter) was little, he would open the door and she was there and out the door! She loved to run! Also she's the only dog I know of that hated water - we have photographs and movies of her swimming in Texas and Georgia and the expression is- where is the shore - must be on land, now!! She surprised me the first summer we were here; she actually jumped off the dock and into the water! It was a hot July or August day. Photographs and memories of her bring the best conversations and the biggest smiles to our family. She was loved and is missed. Which brings me to this . . . Have you photographed or videotaped a loved one/companion lately? Memories are great with a photo or video to share with others!

Trees

Thought I'd share just a couple more images. The top image is my favorite tree to photograph in any season! The bottom image is just a reminder that endurance through any season is just a start!

Sun Dog in the Sky

Here's a close up of the sunset below as a new capture - using my 28-250mm lens. This is called a "sun dog" or parhelion. I see these almost every day here in Minnesota, and they're still sooo cool to me!

Minnesota January

Just thought I'd share a couple of images taken this past week. The sky is amazing here!
I just found this quote on-line and I absolutely love it!!
"A Dream is a Goal with a Deadline."
It grounds me somehow and puts urgency in my work.

Too Cold outside, so it's Backup Week

Using my favorite software (SecondCopy) for backing up data and especially all the images. I'll be cataloging using my other favorite software Canto Cumulus. Next I'll be getting my cd's and dvd's out and backing them up on the external hard drives. One thing that's important to me is organization for my photography business.

Photography Tips

I just remembered a good tip that I read on one of the forums that I follow and it really, really works! I'm all about supporting new technology (that's why I have an Expo Disc), but this is the easiest thing to do to get a custom white balance - easier than the expo disc! Use 9 flat bottom coffee filters - the white ones! Read your camera manual on how to get a custom white balance 1st! Go to the menu, select the custom white balance, put the coffee filters over the lens (all 9 at once), point in the direction of the light source of your photography, press the shutter button and your camera should tell you the custom white balance capture was successful! Now you have your custom white balance and you can capture the images correctly and not spend so much time correcting in front of the computer! Something else to pack in the camera bag - but if you forget it - it's very inexpensive to replace!!

New Blog and inspiration for the new year

Well, it's a new year and this time I'll be blogging at least weekly. After a fantastic vacation and much needed break from it all, I'm more energized to get started again with the business end of doing business! The website completion is first on the agenda and hopefully the rest will fall into place - got my list going of things to do. It's going to be a great year!
